Hello dear artists. Hope you all are doing great. I am here with Part 2 of the Rose series. Today we will be painting the leaves and stems of the roses.
Although painting the leaves is a little complex and tedious task (especially in a busy subject like this) but it surely teaches us a lot about mixing various greens and adding details in watercolours.
So, take out your finest brushes for making the veins that will help these leaves look a lot more realistic.
To give the right form to leaves it is important to understand how light reacts with different parts and how it changes the shades of green as it passes through or reflects off the surface.
MY APPROACH
1. I start with the wet-on-wet technique of laying colours while the sheet is still wet. This helps in developing the initial form of the subject.
2. Next, I start building thin layers of colours in the wet-on-dry technique. Remember to let each layer of colour dry before proceeding with the application of next layer each time.
3. Once I am satisfied with the saturation of colour, I start giving texture with almost a dry brush. This gently helps strengthen the colour a bit more.

5. Burnt umber (for dried flower)
